Summer Reading List

Hello!

It's summertime and that means it's time to share with you some of the books that I can't wait to read this season while I'm relaxing out by the pool and working on my tan! Without further ado, here are my top five books...

You can’t have a summer reading list without a book by Elin Hilderbrand (at least I can’t). I’ve read every single one of her books and thankfully her book, The Identicals, just came out last week just in time for summer. The Identicals is about the Frost twins, Harper and Tabitha, and the summer that will change their lives forever.

Jane Green is another author that I have read a quite a few of her novels, and she too has a new book that recently came out, The Sunshine Sisters. Sister’s Nell, Meredith, and Lizzy Sunshine aren’t close and lead very different lives. This all changes when their mother, Roni, becomes ill. The illness forces them to come together. As they face the loss of their mother, they will discover if blood might be thicker than water after all.

I loved Frederik Backman’s, A Man Called Ove, so much I wanted to give this one a try too! Beartown is an endangered, tiny community in the forest. “Beartown explores the hopes that bring a small community together, the secrets that tear it apart, and the courage it takes for an individual to go against the grain.”

This is a perfect summer beach read for my list. Secrets in Summer takes place on Nantucket. Darcy Cotterill is a year-round resident of the island. This summer Darcy has a lot on her plate. Her ex-husband, Boyz, is staying next door, she’s in a new relationship with the local carpenter, Nick, and she becomes smitten with vacationer, Clive. At the end of the summer, Darcy is faced with a decision. What’s a girl to do? Should she stay on the island, or risk it all for a chance at true happiness.

Su Yi, the matriarch of a massive fortune, is on her deathbed, and the entire Shang-Young Clan has come home to get a piece of the inheritance. Rich People Problems is an “uproarious new novel of a family riven by fortune, an ex-wife driven psychotic with jealousy, a battle royal fought through couture gown sabotage, and the heir to one of Asia's greatest fortunes locked out of his inheritance."

What's on your reading list for this summer?

Until next time...

My Spring Wish List

Hello!

How are ya! I know it's been awhile! I've taken a short hiatus, but no worries I'm back now! Anyways, let's talk spring. The temperatures are rising, the flowers are blooming, and that means it's time to upgrade my wardrobe. Here are a couple of things I need want in my closet!

1. Blush Sneakers: I've been wearing sneakers a lot lately, and when I saw these I HAVE to add them to my new (and growing) sneaker collection. They are adorable, and I love, love, love the color!

2. Tie Sleeve Sweatshirt: I love everything about this sweatshirt! I love the black and white stripes, the slightly cropped sleeves, and of course the ties on the sleeves....just adorable. Perfect spring time staple for those colder days!

3. Crochet Sweater Shirt: So I must admit that I have a weird obsession with sweaters! I basically wear them non stop from fall through winter; they're just so soft and comfy. No surprise here, but I love how sweater shirts and tank tops are becoming popular again that means you can wear "sweaters" all year round. I especially love the crochet detailing on the neck and sleeves of this one, and the plum color is perfect for the spring.

4. Linen Striped Shorts: I'm not ready to embrace wearing shorts just yet, but I sure do love these! These have been on my radar I think since the end of February. I love the fact they are linen, which they'll be so light and airy (and comfy) in the warmer months. Also the  stripes will add a pop of color to any simple tee.

5. Bloom Lip Treatment: This isn't the first time I've mentioned these lip treatment by Fresh. I have several colors, and I use them daily. They make my lips so soft, and the subtle, natural colors are the best! I was sooo excited to find out they came out with a new color, Bloom, which is described as a "sensual shimmery pink." I recently purchased this and I can't wait to try it out - I'm just waiting for it's arrival!

What's on your wish list for this spring?

Spring Reading List

Hello!

Spring is here, and it's time for a new reading list! This is by far one of my favorite posts to write! I currently have sooo many books that I want to read so it was hard to pick just five. After much thought here's a few books that I'm excited to read this season...

I had to choose this one for my list. I love Sophie Kinesella's Shopaholic Series (and pretty much everything she writes), so I was excited when I found she had a new book that was recently released.

My (not so) Perfect Life is about Katie Brenner, a girl who when she finally starts to get everything in her life under control, she gets fired by her boss. To stay positive she leaves the city and goes to her family's farm to help set up a family business. Unexpectedly her boss, Demeter, shows up as a guest, secrets come out, and everything changes.

I'm actually currently reading this book, but it is soooo good that I had to add it to the list so others know what a great read this is. The story is about Ove, a grumpy old man, who loves his routines and rules. At first I hated Ove. He was the bitter neighbor who didn't get along with anyone. However as the story evolves you learn more of his back story and about the love for his wife, his heart of gold, and his dedication to his neighbors, and my feelings toward him have changed. It's an easy read with times of laugh out loud moments as well as moments of sadness. It's definitely a must read!

So I must admit I'm currently obsessed with reading thrillers/ suspense novels. Looking back at January and February, I think about 75% of the books (if not more) that I've read fall into this category. This is probably the most anticipated book that I've been waiting to read. I've been on the waiting list at my local library to get a copy of this book since December, and I'm finally "next in line"! I should be reading this book any day now; I just hope I'm not disappointed!

The Couple Next Door is about how a horrible crime occurred at Anne and Marco's home involving their baby, Cora, while they were next door at a dinner party. As the story is told the truth unravels, secrets are told, and readers discover what really happened that night.

I've been reading a few biographies lately recently being Anna Kendrick's and Amy Schumar's, so this book was recommended to me on Amazon. It got amazing reviews and come on, who doesn't love Lorelai from the Gilmore Girls! Yes, I watched the entire series of the Gilmore Girls, and yes, I'm guilty of  binge watching the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life on Netflix when it came out. I'm excited to read Lauren Grahams stories about her life, working in Hollywood on the sets of Parenthood and Gilmore Girls, and love.

I'm anxiously waiting for this book to be released; it doesn't hit stores until April 11. I had to add this one to my list because I read Megan Miranda's book All the Missing Girls, and it was honestly one of my favorite books I read this year. She had me guessing and at the edge of my seat the whole time. It was one of those books that I just wanted to know what happened and I didn't want to put down. I'm hoping this one is just as good!

What books are on your reading list?

Until next time...

Spring Florals

Hello!

Happy first day of Spring! It's Monday again :(. I hope everyone had a great weekend. My hubby and I went to the movies and saw Beauty and the Beast - it was sooooo good (he liked it too). Other than that I had a pretty low-key weekend spending some time at home.

Anyways in honor of the first day of Spring I thought for today's post I would share with you one of my favorite spring trends: florals. The options of floral patterns are endless. You can get bold patterns with bright colors for a sexier look or more subtle, light colors for a more feminine look. You can get a simple floral tee, a pretty dress, a fun and flirty skirt, or even a cute floral pair of shorts.

Here are a few floral items I'm obsessed with.

Chloe Tee

LOFT Shimmer Floral Flutter Off the Shoulder Top

Ted Baker Crossbody Bag

Embroidered Tennies

Express Floral Print Dress

So I seriously want all these items. Aren't those shoes just adorable, and that dress would look perfect with a jean jacket and booties! Annnnnd that purse would look so cute with a simple white tee, jeans, and ballet flats.  Oh, the possibilities of floral!

What are your favorite florals?

Shades of Green

Hello!

Today's subject is the color green in honor of upcoming St. Patrick's Day. I must admit that the items in my closet are lacking in that color. Other than an olive military jacket, you won't find a shirt, sweater, piece of jewelry, shoe, or handbag in my closet that is green. It's not that I don't like the color, it's just that I tend to buy clothing in neutral colors and blacks and grays.

Every year on March 17th I have every intention on being festive and wear something green, but in the morning when I'm trying to figure out what to wear, I forget that I don't own anything. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that are in the same boat. For those of you that are lacking green in your closet like me here are some fun options to be festive this St. Patrick's Day!

1. Kate Spade Earrings

2. Felicity & Coco Crepe Shift Dress

3. Coach Clutch

4. Express Portofino Shirt

5. Essie Nail Polish in Mojito Madness

What do you have in your closet that's green?

Until next time...

10 Photos That Make You Wish You Were at the Beach

Hello!

Is it me or is everyone at the beach this week!? I know that it's spring break time, but I didn't realize how many people actually traveled this time of the year. I'm super jealous! :( I unfortunately am not enjoying a cocktail on the beach at this moment in time or sitting outside by the pool, instead I'm super busy with work and longing for my next vacation (which isn't scheduled until the end of September - I think I have to change that and schedule another one!).

Anyways for those of you that are like me and didn't/aren't going to the beach for spring break here's a few pictures to look at and dream...

Coral Bay, Grand Cayman Island

Sanibel Island, Florida

Ochos Rio Bay Beach, Jamaica

Islands

Horseshoe Bay, Bermuda

Grace Bay Beach, Turks and Caicos

Bora Bora

Les Salines, Martinique

Stocking Island, Bahamas

Petite Anse, La Digue Island, Seychelles

Shoal Beach, Anguilla

That's all folks! Oh how I want to be at the beach now!

Are you going somewhere for spring break? Have you been to any of these beaches?

Until next time...
